We stayed in Sandton (Premier Hotel Quatermain) but travelled a lot from there. We visited Nice on Poplar (Riverclub), The Comic Warehouse (Bedfordview), The Gingerbread Lady Bakery (Edenvale), Cremalat Cheese (Deli & Bakery and imported Italian products) and La Cucina (lunch, Tunney Ext 6, Elandsfontein, Bedfordview), Froggie Factory shop (Woodmead) and much more... We wanted to visit many other places, but time ran out... We made sure to travel in times that were less busy (when people go to or from work) and we also listened to the radio to determine whether traffic was expected and if so, we went into a different direction for that day.

Because of safety issues, we were advised to avoid downtown Jo-burg which we only saw through car windows. We did tours of the Apartheid Museum and Soweto and found both of these very worthwhile. We stayed in a fabulous small hotel in a very secure and beautiful setting (The Cliffside Boutique Hotel) and staying there was a highlight of our month-long trip to South Africa.JeanneUnited States - 8.0Scored 8.0

Fourways is a good area to just take a minute for a quick breakaway. There are a few accommodation options with varying prices to fit any budget. Places to eat are close by and affordable. Getting around can be tricky but there public transport available. Like any other place, you have to be aware of your surrounding but we never felt unsafe.

The amenities and service are high quality. The staff is so kind and the food is DELICIOUS! We had dinner the night we arrived (the peri peri chicken and balsamic chicken) - it was a meal you think about after eating. The complimentary breakfast is also delicious. I recommend the eggs Benedict. Everything was 10/10 and the perfect hotel close to the airport.
