I'm pretty much a full time vagabond, so spend most of my life in hotels. These have a habit of blurring into each other in their blandness... this place is refreshingly different though.
This appears to be a genuine family run hotel, and everybody I dealt with was really nice, despite the language barrier. My fault, for being a poor linguist.
Some other reviews seem a little negative.....but its clean, good WiFi, and comfortable. What more do you need?
Central location , massive private car park, pet friendly, good breakfast.
I really liked this place, definitely has character.

I stayed only for one night of a business trip (September). Since I was on a very variable schedule, I had to be continuously in contact with the reception in terms of my arrival time - they were always available and very supportive (even though I arrived an hour after the maximum check in time). The hotel is on an excellent location by the sea, which offers the opportunity to walk - we walked on 7 am. Amazing breakfast.
The most important is the excellent building of the hotel - we actually reffered to it with my colleagues as "the mansion".

Tuscan Port and Hub
Livorno features one of the biggest harbours in Italy, from which ferries depart towards a long list of Mediterranean destinations, particularly the Tuscan Archipelago, Sardinia and Corsica. Called ‘Ideal Town’ during Renaissance times for its religious tolerance and its advanced trading regulations, it is surrounded by typical Tuscan countryside and Tyrrhenian beaches.
The city was declared a tax-free port in the 1580s, during the rule of Ferdinando de' Medici. The regulation protected the merchants and granted religious tolerance, attracting numerous Jewish and Protestant immigrants. The Counter-Reformation, the Napoleonic invasions, and the loss of its free-port status after the Italian Reunification were at the base of its commercial decline.

Livorno is a great base from where to explore Tuscany.
Livorno is a great base from where to explore Tuscany. The Quartiere Venezia, where embassies are, is the nicest place to stay & walk around. There’s an abundance of very good & also some gourmet restaurants. A walk along the seaside is recommended,
Unfortunately there’s some beautiful old historic buildings left to decay, namely the ancient thermal bath house ‚Coralle‘ and the adjacent grand hotel.

Livorno's coastline is picturesque.
Livorno's coastline is picturesque. Terrazza Mascagni is a great place to watch the sunset. The large central market has a vibrant atmosphere. The Piazza Grande is a good place to sit and have a coffee or a meal.
There are many attractions in nearby areas: Pisa, Siena, Lucca.

A great city.
A great city. Kind of dingy and edgy in places. lots of street art. I'd forgotten my favorite artist, Modigliani, was from here. Cuisine livornese is spectacular. Some of the finest seafood I've ever had. The old fortresses and Port area are very romantic. Hope I get to return some day. Loved il Porto Ristopecheria and Osteria della Venezia. Take the Moby Fantasy to Sardegna for a real treat. Getting around town isn't that easy no Uber I didn't understand the bus lines. Great little shopping area I think on what's called Grand Avenue

Livorno is a waterfront town, not BEACHFRONT.
Livorno is a waterfront town, not BEACHFRONT. We were looking for a relaxing day by the sea on a sandy beach, but this is not the city for that. It has beautiful views but the waterfront is rocky, not sandy, in which we were disappointed. It took all morning to figure out that to get to the beach we had to leave the town. $40 in cab fares to go to Tirrenia which is beautiful and sandy. Skip this town, go to Tirrenia instead if you're looking for a traditional sandy beach.

Livorno is a very special artistic and very Italian town to mine point of view. It reminds me of the modern Art which could be with a variety of faces: the dark side of realism as well as the hopeful side of modernism and the fantastically beautiful side of the antic architecture. For swimmers and nature lovers it leads you to the incredibly long and supercool beaches together with nature reservoirs like rocks water areas and so on.. For fashion people Livorno might be special in a variety of flea markets which could be very interesting and unique. There are lots of Art galleries around as well. The restaurants and cafes are also very Italian, with an incredible fish menu ( the freshest fish from the harbor of town ) and reasonable prices.

I like everything in Livorno.
I like everything in Livorno. Beautiful promenade and restaurants locals and bars. I can suggest a better organization for park the car inside all the city center area. The quartier Venezia is well served : restaurants, bars, locals and close to the port area . You can visit the central Market and eat the special food “5e5” in Gagarin place.
We stayed at the Faro B&B in Livorno for 3 days and really liked this apartment! The host was very hospitable and always available to answer any questions and requests. We even had early check-in and late check-out, which were absolutely not a problem with Serena. The apartment itself has everything you need, it's really cozy and has a great vibe! And we specially liked the terrass , it was wonderfull to eat breakfast in the morning and drink some wine in the evening on it. Best recommendations!
The hotel has the feel of a bygone era of opulence and grandeur - it may be a little tired, but we enjoyed our stay very much. Our room was very large with a lovely view over the water front. We had dinner at the Mascagni Restaurant sitting on the balcony - great view, great staff & the food was of a very high standard. Parking was not a problem at the hotel and we were only a 10min drive to the ferry terminal next morning - if you need to stay in Livorno this is a great place to stay.
We loved our stay here. Admittedly we were given an upgrade, which was much appreciated as we were celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary. The apartment was spacious, well-appointed and comfortable. The swimming pool wasn't huge, but big enough to cool down. It had a lovely ambience. The location was great, in the "Venice" of Livorno and walking distance to great eateries. The breakfast was also good. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Big and well-furnished apartment, close to the port and central area. Good place for a short stay in Livorno. Nicely renovated but as its an old building there has been some creative use of space, so the bedroom is upstairs but the shower is downstairs; not a problem, just curious.
Close to bus to get to the train station, and only an easy 30 minute walk. Lots of bars and restaurants in the area, and a Carrefour express one block away.
Location is perfect to explore Livorno. Staff was friendly and helpful, especially Valentina. It is in an historic building which gives it charm and as is expected, the rooms are small but had a refrigerator. The breakfast was great with friendly staff. Would stay here again. We took the boat canal tour around Livorno and would recommend it.
Staff were warm and welcoming. Check-in was easy, as well as our check-out, which was super early. Nicely decorated rooms. Very convenient location to the port of Livorno. Several dining options nearby. Good value for quality of hotel and in comparison to other properties in the area.
Great room, marvelous view, wonderful breakfast. That was amazing quiet relax between bustling Florence and noisy Pisa. We arrived from the train station to the hotel by bus. Bus stop is near the hotel. The train station is 10-15 minutes walk.
The room was great, bathroom and kitchen clean.
The place is close to the center, and 25m walking from terrace on the seacoast.
The host hours for checking in and out we're flexible and the host available.
We had a great time in Livorno
I got all the help I needed with parking and storage.
The location is in the middle of the historic center. The best parking garage of the city is next door.
You are 4 minutes from the ferry’s
We landed at Pisa airport at 2130 and needed a place to stay before catching the Livorno ferry to Corsica early the following morning. This place was perfect, especially as it included parking
If you travel by ferry it is the best place in Livorno. The owner of this place is absolutely beautiful person. I am sure you will appreciate. Really customer oriented.
Location was pretty nice 10m from the beach. Really nice hotel terrace overlooking beach and beautiful panoramic view. Plenty of parking in front of the hotel.
The position is close to Livorno harbor, very easy to get the ferry boat to Corsica. Modern and clean hotel with very friendly staff. Reception is open 24/24.
